Windows 8 was released
on October 26/2012. Windows 8 is "the end of Windows,"
said Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff at a Q&A session that Latinos Post
attended after the entrepreneur's Cloudforce keynote speech in New York City.
Windows 8 includes new features, including native USB 3.0 support,
Windows Store, the ability to boot from USB Flash drives with Windows To
Go, Microsoft account integration , and easier system restore options,
among others.
Windows 8 already contains more than 300 new features. Windows is the first edition of Windows to operate on both ARM-based tablets and x86 PCs based on ARM processors from Intel and AMD.
Windows 8 also contains two soft keyboards: an "enhanced" traditional keyboard, plus a new thumbs keyboard for non-touch typists.
Windows 8 also introduces
the ability to perform all current copy operations into a single dialog box,
instead of requiring you to perform file copying in separate dialog boxes for
each app. It give the ability to pause, resume or stop any operation currently
under way.
New USB 3.0 ports operate
at speeds up to ten times faster than USB 2.0. To better support these speeds,
Microsoft is outfitting Windows 8 with native USB 3.0 drivers.
Windows 8 also brings
increased support for multiple monitors.
Windows Store is a
digitally distribution platform built into Windows 8, which is similar to
Apples's App Store and Google Play, allows you to purchase apps designed for
Windows 8.
Windows 8 features a new
lock screen, which includes a date and time display, along with the ability to
display notifications from apps. Two new log in methods optimized for
touch screens are also available, including a four-digit PIN, or a
"picture password"; which users allow the use of certain gestures
performed on a selected picture to log in.
